Martine Robertson is a producer, performer and ethnologist.
‘I love the concept of ethnology as performance, the idea of stories
out of the archives and onto the stage for audiences to appreciate
them’. Martine is currently involved in active fieldwork, for the Northern
Lighthouse Board, and the European Ethnological Research Centre
recording and transcribing projects. She also works as an
independent collaborator on innovative sound and visual
performance work generated by archive material.
Martine is a founder member of GaelGal Productions, and Off the Wing
performance group. [See under GaelGal and Off the Wing]
She is a member of the Authentic Artist Collective.
She was a member of Sangstream Scots Community Choir for 11
years, and before that a member of Witch Theatre in the 1980/90s.
Martine worked as a Community Development Worker and Manager
for many years, working mainly on developing and realising
innovative projects. She has deep experience of working and delivering training in Person
Centred approaches to care. Solution focused approaches and person
centred planning and coaching approaches.
Things that make me tick
I am a coastal rower, a dedicated walker and island lover. My real joy
is bringing together a lovely ‘gang’ of folk, all working in
collaboration to produce small performance gems which light up
aspects of Scottish cultural living that may otherwise remain hidden.
