Works at the University of Edinburgh as Archives Assistant, Research Assistant and Editor. In practice she has three jobs across two departments: her roles connected by her main focus of study, which is ethnology, the study of people and culture. Caroline has had the
good fortune to work with some wonderful people over the years, both through her fieldwork and research and in her role as an Archives Assistant. As a result, ‘she often knows a person who knows a thing or two’ and is always happy to bring others on board in support
of GaelGal projects.
Caroline has been a member of the GaelGals team for three years. Her role has been to offer practical support and solution-focussed thinking around use of archive materials and has been instrumental in looking above the parapet to bring in further opportunities for the team. Her editorial skills are often recruited when fresh eyes are needed… for guidance only,
of course! If asked about her motivations for supporting the Gaelgal productions, Caroline would say the group has integrity, which combined with generosity to tell a story on behalf of the interviewees, the essential qualities so necessary when working with original source
